Andrew T. King - Founder and Principal -- 18+ years of ASC experience
Prior to starting Acumen, Andy served as Senior Vice President of HCA's Ambulatory Surgery Division,
where he was responsible for over 40 ASCs. He was a team leader of the division's successful
effort in the Malcolm Baldridge Awards pilot healthcare program. Prior to that, Andy was a
Senior Vice President of Medical Care International, which he joined in 1983. He was Medical
Care's primary negotiator of med/surg vendor contracts. During his 11 years with Medical Care,
Andy also served variously as Administrator, Regional Director, Vice President of Operations, and Vice
President of Development, and was responsible for developing and/or managing well over 60 surgery
centers. Before Medical Care, Andy was Vice President of Professional Services at East Tennessee
Baptist Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee. He received his BA from the University of
Tennessee-Knoxville and his MHA from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. His
father is a retired urologist.
